CAROLINA SANDHILLS
SPRING 2023 TREE CAMP
Exact location and dates to be announced in February
You are invited to join Naturalist Riverdave and Herbalist Suki Roth as we explore together the unique natural history of the NC Sandhills region. We will cover the two main Sandhills habitats, the longleaf pine savanna and the streamhead (gum swamp) pocosin. We will introduce you to around 40 species of trees and shrubs that are most characteristic of the Sandhills region and be on the lookout for herbaceous plants as well. Our walk will cover approximately a couple of miles of sandy trail so all participants need to be able to walk that distance comfortably. Exact location to be announced in February.
Here is our working list of common Sandhills native trees and shrubs for this Tree Camp that will be provided to each participant: Walthour-Moss Preserve Tree List
Our group size each day will be limited to thirteen individuals. The cost is $40 per person and must be paid in advance. For more details and to register for this event, email Riverdave at riverdave52@gmail.com
